FriendsWithYou, Sam & Tury

Jen Stark
This coming Saturday June 23rd 2012 from 7 to 9PM, Miami-based Carol Jazzar is throwing a fond farewell event to say goodbye to Miami renown artists Jen Stark, Sam Borkson and Arturo “Tury” Sandoval aka FriendsWithYou, who are moving to Los Angeles, California.
As one of Miami’s best known artists, Stark’s work has been an influential part of Miami’s growing art scene since 2007. She graduated in 2001 from the New World School of the Arts, a very successful public magnet school and college in Miami who has graduated and exported outstanding talent.
After graduation, Stark joined the Maryland Institute College of Art, MICA and upon receiving her degree she returned to Miami to begin her professional art career.
“Miami helped foster Jen’s creativity and allowed her career to thrive; although she is moving away, she’s grateful to have been part of such an amazing art community always considering Miami her home,” said gallery owner Carol Jazzar.
Stark is most recognized for her colorful paper sculptures, but she has also explored a variety of media including wood, drawing and animation.
This summer her work will be included in a group show “40 under 40” at the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery in Washington DC.
Jen and partner Alvaro Ilizarbe will be making the move to Los Angeles with other Miami fellows, Sam Borkson and Tury Sandoval, aka FriendsWithYou, the fine art collaborative that has been producing since 2002 an array of exhibitions and experimental installations whose main mission is to generate a new positive message of spiritual awareness and powerful interaction.
