Yesterday, Thursday September 20th, 2012, Michael Spring, Director of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, announced that the 2nd and final County Budget Hearing concluded with the approval by the Board of County Commissioners of the 2012-2013 grants budget which was approved with no reductions.
Spring is the person responsible for supervising Miami-Dade’s public arts agency with an annual budget that exceeds $24 million.
“We continue to appreciate the extraordinary dedication of the Cultural Affairs Council and their year-round advocacy on behalf of the cultural community,” said Spring.
Spring also said that Chairman Adolfo Henriques, Mayor Carlos Gimenez, the members of the County Commission and all of Miami-Dade County officials completely understand “the enormous impact that the cultural community is continuing to have on making this a great place to live and raise families, and to attract visitors and businesses.”
“The 2012-2013 cultural budget is affirmation of all of the outstanding work that continues to be accomplished by our cultural organizations and artists,” he added.
