Moona Luna To Perform at South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center

On Sunday October 28th, 2012 at 1PM, the bilingual kindi rock band Moona Luna from Brooklyn, New York will perform at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center.
As part of the center’s brand new family series for children and families throughout Miami-Dade County, Moona Luna will perform for parents and kids in a fun singing and dancing performance with songs that are part of the band’s recent award-winning children’s album Piñata Party.
The show is close to Halloween so it’s a pre-Halloween Piñata Party. Guests are encouraged to come in costume.
Moona Luna is a musical project by the Latin-alternative group Pistolera.
Lead singer and song writer Sandra Velasquez, inspired by the birth of her first child, had the idea to create songs set to Mexican folk-rooted melodies and dancing accordion progressions for parents to enjoy with their kids.
“Whenever you have an accordion and a cowbell, there’s a celebration,” said Velasquez.
“The South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center’s brand new Family Series is a wonderful way for the entire family to get together on the weekends and come to their new performing arts center,” said Carla Hill, Education and Outreach Manager for South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center.
The South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center, designed by an internationally-acclaimed design team that includes Arquitectonica International, Inc. (architects), Fisher Dachs Associates, Inc. (theater design), Artec Consultants, Inc. (acoustics), and AMS Planning & Research Corp. (theater management), provides, for the first time, a state-of-the-art cultural venue and community gathering place in the southern part of Miami-Dade County.
The Center features prominent works of art created by Miami artist Robert Chambers who was commissioned by Miami-Dade County’s Art in Public Places program to design a kinetic light wall and sculptures for the theater.
Tickets are $10. Buy online at www.smdcac.org or call the Box Office at 786-573-5300. The Center is located at 10950 SW 211 Street, Cutler Bay. FREE parking is available.
